Three separate costs
It helps to look at website costs in three parts.
- Building it — design and development. This is paid once.
- Domain — your website's name (such as yourbusiness.com). Renewed every year.
- Hosting — where the website lives. Also a yearly (or monthly) cost.
What the build price depends on
Mainly three things: how many pages, which features, and who prepares the text and photos. A one-page profile site and an online shop with a cart and orders are different amounts of work, so they cost differently.
As an example, our prices: a one-page Starter website is ৳7,000, a Business website of up to 8 pages is ৳15,000, and an Online Shop is ৳30,000. Other providers may charge less or more — when comparing, check what the price actually includes.
Domain and hosting per year
For a typical business website, domain and hosting together come to roughly ৳3,000–5,000 a year. Heavy traffic or a large online shop pushes hosting costs up.
One important point: make sure the domain is bought in your own name. If it is in someone else's, changing providers later can become a problem.
If you would rather not pay it all at once
To avoid a large upfront cost you can take a website on a monthly plan. Ours start from ৳1,000 a month (plus a one-time setup fee), with hosting, SSL and upkeep included.
Over the long run, though, the one-time package costs less in total. If you have the budget, buying outright is the cheaper route.
Questions to ask before you agree a price
Whoever builds it, ask these at the start.
- Does the price include domain and hosting, or are they separate?
- Whose name will the domain and hosting be in?
- Will later text or photo changes cost extra?
- Will the site work properly on mobile?
- How long is support included after launch?
